After Kirchner traveled to Fehmarn for the first time in 1908, he spent the summers on the idyllic Baltic Sea island from 1912 to 1914. There he created representations in various artistic media, about which Kirchner reported in a letter to Gustav Schiefler: "[..] I made paintings that were absolutely mature, as far as I can judge for myself. Ochre, blue, green are the colors of Fehmarn, wonderful coastline, sometimes as rich as the South Seas [..]” (Wolfgang Henze [edit.], Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Gustav Schiefler, Briefwechsel 1910-1935/38, Stuttgart/Zürich 1990, p. 61, no. 33.).

During this time, he also made the Staberhof estate in the south-east of the island a motif for his work. He captured it from different perspectives in three paintings and several drawings. The lithograph offered here, which Kirchner probably executed in the print medium after his return to his Berlin studio, also belongs to this series of motifs.
As in many other of his graphic works, Kirchner succeeds here in developing a depiction full of dynamism, despite the strong contours. Particularly due to his unique handling of these artistic stylistic devices, he created a work with the expressive power characteristic of Kirchner.

In good condition. With very few isolated brownish (water) stains, predominantly in margins. There also with a tiny hole. Bottom right corner minimally blemished. Upper left margin with traces from a paper-clip.
