Etchingwith aquatint and silkscreen in green-black.
Klipstein 96/X (von XII). From an edition of unknown print run. On copper plate printing paper. 41 x 53.5 cm (16.1 x 21 in). Sheet: 53,8 x 65,8 cm (21,2 x 25,9 in).
Sheet 6 from the cycle "Bauernkrieg".
• Impressive play of light and shade.
• The theme of mother and son is a reference to her own biography: Kollwitz' son Peter fell in the First Battle of Ypres in 1914.
• The artist delivers proof of her mastery in graphic art.
• Kollwitz is one of the most important artists of the 20th century

PROVENANCE: Private collection Southern Germany.

In good condition. With mount staining and isolated brownish spots. Lower margin with a small split (0.8 mm). Verso with mounting remains, minimally visible on recto.
