• Fascinating example of Schwitters' energetic, figurative landscape painting, which the artist continued throughout his entire oeuvre alongside his Dadaist work.
• Atmospheric portrait of the massive, untouched nature in his new adopted home of Norway.
• From 1930 to 1936, Schwitters spent the summer months in Norway, mainly at Hotel Djupsvashytta on Lake Djupvand, where the present work was created, and on the island of Hjertøya.
• In the summer of 1932, Schwitters rented a cabin on the island of Hjertøya, which he began to turn into one of his famous "Merzbauten" over the following years.
• Due to his increasing political defamation through the National Socialists, Schwitters decided not to return to Germany at the height of his international recognition in late 1936.

In good condition. Edges faintly bumped in places. With a few small, expertly retouched spots in the margins. Surface minimally rubbed in places and slightly soiled in places.
The condition report was compiled in daylight with the help of an ultraviolet light and to the best of knowledge.
