Compression de motocyclette. 1971.
Multiple. Color Metal object, mounted on a wooden panel. In plexiglass object frame.
Signed and dated in lower right as well as inscribed "Nice". Verso inscribed "m-19 89C304F" and with inventory no. "0155". From an edition of 50 copies. 33.5 x 44.5 x 4.5 cm (13.1 x 17.5 x 1.7 in).

• From 1958, the important French sculptor developed an individual approach to space with his compressions, expansions and inclusions.
• From 1961, César was a member of the important avant-garde group "Nouveaux Réalistes", which also comprised Yves Klein, Arman, Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle.
• He showed his progressive sculptures at documenta II in 1959, as well as in 1964 and 1968.
• His sculptures are in international collections like the Musée national d'art moderne, Paris, the Tate Gallery, London, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York

In good condition. Wooden panel with a few fine, horizontal drycracks as well as with small material cracks in the lower left and in both upper corners. Wooden panel in the center above the metal object with small dirt adhesions. Plexiglass cover with isolated small cracks in the corners and the edges as well as with minor rubbing and scratches.
